After more than 5 months' teaching period in Helsinki Master Liu returns again to Guilin in China on Sunday the 25th of December 2010.
Master Liu arrived in Helsinki on the 3rd of August 2010. On Fridays and Saturdays he gave intensive special training sessions to his most advanced students in Helsinki. The training inluded a lot of qigong, training of the most difficult segments of the taiji forms and applications. The visit was extremely useful and will be repeated in the autumn period 2011. The next visit will probably be shorter but better organized and more intensive than this year.
Below is a photo of the last training session in the choreographic hall of Kisahalli which appeared to be a bit too small for the big number of participants.

The second Helsinki Taiji & Qigong Day is over. It was a success in all respects. The atmosphere in the event was reaxed and positive. There was as much audience as as the sports hall of the Elias-school could hold. The public eagerly participated in the qigong exercises and followed the taiji presentations and the oral presentation of Helena Hallenberg with great interest.
We performed our part of the presentations with routine. The space available for our sword presentation was not quite enough, but otherwise the arrangements were excellent.
Thank you to everybody who took part in our taiji presentations and to those who helped in implementing the event!

On Mondays: In Ressun peruskoulu we will be training in the lower training hall. The first of two consecutive training classes starts 7 o'clock PM. This is 1.5 hours later than before.
On Wednesdays: Both the location and training time have changed. Instead of the Pajalahti school in Lauttasaari we are using the "steppisali" in the Olympic Stadion, section D. The first class begins 7:30 PM. I.e. half an hour later than during the spring period 2009.
On Fridays: Katajanokka Training hall has been changed to the hall for ball games (palloiluhalli) in the Olympic Stadion, Section D. The two hour free training session starts 6:30 PM.
On Sundays we had three possible alternative locations and training times. Based on a questionare results Haagan pelastusasema proved to be the best alternative. Therefore, no changes compared with the spring period 2009 were made regardin the Sunday training.
The entrance to the new training location on Wednesdays and Fridays at the Olympic stadion is indicated with a red arrow in the map below.

22.11.2008 there were the IV Finnish Wushu Open Championships at Töölön Kisahalli starting 10:00 o'clock in the morning.
This was the first time in Guilin Taijiquan ry's history to participate in Wushu competition. Outside the competition we also paticipated in the group presentations with a Chen style taiji form. This time there was no real competition in the traditional taijiquan because of the small number of participants. The relatively high scores received by John and Barchie indicated, however, that the judges did like what they saw. John took the gold medal in the traditional taijiquan and traditiona sword whereas Barchie received gold in broad sword and silver in sword. The head judge in the competition was Niilo Kivirinta and Shifu Liu acted as a judge as well.
