Taiji cannot be learned from books or videos or in a few week-end courses. It is possible only in a continuous guidance of a skillful master. The skills of the teacher and the quality of training are decisive for the development. Therefore, you should select your teacher carefully. Otherwise you may need to start from the beginning after several years of result-less training. An old Chinese saying applies here: "One word from a skillful master saves ten years hard training".
Many taiji-trainees do not know exactly which taiji style he or she is actually practicing, whether the style is original and reliable and from whom the teacher or the teacher’s teacher has learned the style.
The Chen and Yang styles practiced in Guilin Taijiquan Association are classical, original and therefore reliable. The teacher-student relationships are clear and reliable from the founder of the style to the chief instructor Master Liu of Guilin Taijiquan Association as appears in the lineage under the link “Chen and Yang style lineages” .
