Martti Nevalainen (1942 -) has a Lic. Tech. degree. At the end of 2005 he retired from the Business Development Manger duties at Nokia.
From his background Martti is a gymnast. After having practiced karate for ten years, he achieved 1st dan in Wadoryu karate in April 1997.
In connection with his work assignment in Guilin China during the years 1998-2000 he had the chance to study Chen taiji under the guidance of Master Liu Shaohua, one of the most advanced students of grand master Ma Hong. In August 2000 Martti won the International Chen Taijiquan competition in JiaoZuo in Henan province in China (men over 50 years).
After returning to Finland he was teaching Chen Taiji first in Budocenter in Lauttasaari and since 1.1.2002 in the firm Guilin Taijiquan that he established in Helsinki. Since August 2002 he was teaching taiji as Master Liu’s assistant first in the firm Guilin Taijiquan and since 2005 in the newly established Guilin Taijiquan Association. In 2006 he participated in the 5 day Chen taiji course of grand master Ma Hong in Guilin.
After master Liu Shaohua returned to Guilin in China at the end of year 2009 Martti was nominated as the chief instructor of taiji in the Guilin Taijiquan Association. Martti was one of the charter members of Guilin Taijiquan in Helsinki. Since its establishment in 2005 Martti has been the chairman of its management team until February 2011, when he left all management team duties. He continues as the taijiteacher in the association.
